Born in Juvisy-sur-Orge, France on 5 April 1982, Alexandre Prémat, is currently a AUDI driver in the 2007 DTM Championship.

 

Alex’s racing career starting in karts at the age of ten. Success came in 1998 when he was the “Ile-de-France” karting champion, and the following year when he was the French champion 125cc ICC which meant he had no trouble in securing a drive in 2000 in French Formula Campus.

 

Alex claimed nine podium finishes that season including two wins, two poles and seven fastest laps and quickly graduated to French Formula Renault in 2001 and won the title in 2002 with five podiums and three race wins. That year he also raced in part of the Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup and claimed one podium finish.

 

In 2003 Alex moved to Formula 3 Euroseries, driving for the ASM team. He also raced in the Formula 3 Euro Series Rookies Cup finishing third overall. Alex’s strong performance meant that Mercedes signed him up as one of its official junior drivers.

 

Alex stayed in Formula 3 in 2004 season finishing as runner up, but won the prestigious Macau Formula 3 GP and the Formula 3 Masters of Zandvoort along the way. He became only the third driver ever to win both events in one season, after David Coulthard and Takuma Sato.

 

In 2005 Alex finished fourth in the GP2 drivers’ championship claiming 67 points, half a point behind the third in the classification, and his maiden victory in Turkey. He helped the ART team to win the GP2 constructors’ championship and in 2006 continues driving for the team as it mounts its title defence. In the winter 2005-2006 Alex led A1 Team France, one of 25 teams competing in the new A1 Grand Prix Series to win the championship. Alex drove to seven wins that season the most of any driver.

 

Alex stayed in GP2 in 2006, we finished third position just behind Lewis Hamilton and Nelsino Piquet, Alex won a fantastic race at Barcelona and made 7 podiums.

 

In september Alex moved to Formula 1 test driver with spyker for Shanghai. The result was very good, Alex finished first session behind Michael.Schumacher only 1 tenth slower. He show this talent. He test also in Champcar with conquest.

 

In 2007 Alex moved to AUDI to do DTM CHAMPIONSHIP.
